Take a look through this site about the cycle of wheat:
Looks like death of the grain is part of the cycle (unless I missed something!)
john 12:24 says: "except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone; but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.
" is this a scientifically accurate statement?
can a dead seed germinate and go on to produce fruit?

for a long time, before working with people in this situation, i would have answered this question with .... "i feel for them and i know how degrading it must be, to come to this point in their life to have to depend on the government to sustain them" .
... once i got up close and personal with these people, i have learned that my answer only applies to a small group of those on government assistance.
well from my experience, those on government assistance are more often about taking advantage of the system, then they are about actually being in need of help.
I noticed a few of you have jumped on my question about taking any job!!
I feel that my point might have been missed that, in the UK at least it is sometimes more beneficial financially not to take the poorly paid/long hours jobs. I don't in any way condone such behaviour, but I do understand why some are tempted to take the 'easy' option.
I would ask too, would you take a job if it for example compromised your own beliefs/values (a possibly extreme eg - would a vegan animal rights activist take a job at a slaughterhouse if it was all they could get?)
littlerockguy - you reminded me of another problem I encountered a few times. Potential employers turned me down for jobs because I was 'overqualified' Some seem to have the attitude that if you're bright, you'll get bored easily and quit - absolutely not true for me, I thrive on long drawn-out tedious tasks, I get more sense of achievement when I complete them!
i feel the need to update the ending to my mother's story.. after her surgery last september, when no tumor was found, she went home to enjoy happy visits from family (constantly), recovery, and two new kittens.
one month of happiness at her home, which she had designed herself 20 years ago.
my parents were reading and preparing her for living with ms, which was her new diagnosis.. .
((((bebu))))
God Bless
this is actually something that fascinates me and i'd like your own opinions on the subject.
i list here things i feel are quintessentially english (with apologies to the scots, welsh and irish as they have their own uniqueness).. first of all, it's got to be a cup of tea (yes, i know it wasn't originally made here, but it has become an integral part of 'englishness').. cup of tea.
cricket.
We got the beast of Bodmin moor don't forget!

MsMcDucket - how you were treated is awful. If anything is showing up in this discussion, it's just how differently government assistance is administered in the various countries. In the UK, you would have probably got incapacity benefit - plus we have free healthcare so there wouldn't have been a problem with medical bills.
Each individual should be judged according to their situation
Well said!
